WELCOME to
LIFE IN CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH
Alive in Christ bringing Life in Christ
Who Are We?
Traditional Church. Traditional Belief. Traditional Worship.
At Life in Christ Lutheran Church, Grand Marais, MN, we stand firm in the historic Christian faith, rooted in God’s Word and the unchanging truth of the Gospel. As a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), we hold to the timeless teachings of Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, and the reverence of historic worship.
Traditional Church
We are not driven by trends or passing fads. Instead, we remain steadfast in the historic, confessional Lutheran faith—the same faith that has been proclaimed for generations. We believe the Church is not a human institution, but the body of Christ, gathered around Word and Sacrament.
Christ-Centered Preaching – We proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and risen for the forgiveness of sins.
Sacramental Worship – We receive God’s gifts through Baptism and Holy Communion.
Fellowship in Faith – We gather as brothers and sisters in Christ, united in one confession.
Traditional Belief
We believe in the unchanging truth of God’s Word and the teachings of the Lutheran Reformation. Our faith is summarized by three key principles:
Grace Alone – We are saved not by our works, but by God’s free gift of grace.
Faith Alone – We are justified before God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Scripture Alone – The Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the sole authority for faith and life.
The Lutheran Confessions
We hold to the Book of Concord (1580) as a faithful exposition of Scripture. These Confessions, written during the Reformation, clearly and boldly proclaim what the Bible teaches.
The Small Catechism – A simple yet profound summary of Christian doctrine, used for teaching all believers.
The Augsburg Confession – The foundational statement of Lutheran doctrine, presented before Emperor Charles V in 1530.
The Formula of Concord – A detailed confession that upholds biblical doctrine against false teachings.
We confess these writings not as additional scripture, but as true and faithful explanations of what the Bible teaches. The Lutheran Confessions keep us grounded in historic, biblical Christianity.
Traditional Worship
Worship at Life in Christ Lutheran Church is reverent, Christ-focused, and rooted in the liturgy of the Church. We do not seek entertainment or emotional manipulation—our focus is on God and His gifts.
Liturgical Worship – We follow the historic liturgy of the Church, rich in Scripture and theology.
Hymns & Chanting – We sing the great hymns of the faith, drawing from Lutheran and historic Christian tradition.
Law & Gospel Preaching – Our sermons proclaim both God’s judgment and His mercy in Christ.
Each week, we gather to receive the gifts of Christ in Word and Sacrament, where Jesus Himself comes to us with forgiveness, life, and salvation.
Who Are We?
We are a confessional, traditional Lutheran Church that stands on the unchanging truth of Christ’s Word. In an age of uncertainty, we proclaim a faith that does not change, because God does not change (Malachi 3:6).
Join us in worship and experience the timeless beauty of historic Christianity, where Christ is at the center of all that we do.
